We are drilling more than ever. The price of gas hasn't dropped. We export a lot of oil. However, even the oil we keep here is pegged at the world price which is far above the cost of extraction. Until we fix this situation, we'll continue to enrich oil companies and continue paying more than we should for gasoline...

I saw a real good program about that recently. The price of oil is really controlled by the Wall Street type of people. The good news is they might be backing off of oil a bit in the next 2 years. Which means the consumer price of Gasoline might go back to the $3 level and not so much of the $4 level. We can only keep our fingers crossed this happens in the near future.

In fact the price has dropped, here in Southwest Riverside county it went from around $4.50 a gallon to around $3.67 a gallon. Taxation, mandates and regulation is what keeps it high. If you were able to remove the .68c a gallon Cali gas tax, it would fall below $3.00 a gallon. And as mentioned in another thread come January 2015 when the bogus global warming cap and tax scam hits, it will increase exponentially, perhaps well over $5.00 a gallon. Oil companies make far less a gallon of gas than the government does due to extraction, labor costs and environmentalist litigation. But indeed, you get what you vote for...
