took off to mammoth with the fam for a nice vacation, got 2 cabins at lake mamie which was awesome! a bunch of wild life fish, bears, coyotes, and chipmunks all visited lol.. first time taking the new kayak out mamie is def a shallow lake.. deepest part was maybe 15ft or so but had plenty of fish that loved the panther martins saw some really nice brookes in their didnt land them but caught and released plenty of trout.. everyone in the fam caught fish.. next day took the yaks to mary and had a blast as well trolled some lip rippers from the yak and got a nice one.. then set up on a drift casting the lip rippers and the bite was still on just had to go deeper.. fish seemed to be hanging out in the 20-30ft rage fishing was good at both lakes.. the following day went up to lake george but the wind blew in like crazy so we didnt launch and ended up going sight seeing hiking some trails which was equally awesome.. temps were in the 70s during the day and 40s at night i freakin loved it! coming back to riverside sucked seeing that temp gauge go up and up lol.. and waking up to no trees the next day was pretty depressing lol.. but all in all it was a nice trip! was amazed that the river/creek coming outta crowley (i think) was almost dried up.. when i passed it in 2011 it was ragin 15ft+ deep now its a few inches deep and maybe a few ft wide.. super sad.. any way here are some pix of the trip!

Awesome pictures! Makes me really miss the eastern Sierras. I love kayaking Mamie because it's so shallow, when there's no wind it's like kayaking on glass, and I like to quietly cruise around the shallows and see the fish swimming in the clear water.

Great report and pics of your trip with your son. Nothing better in my opinion than time spent in the Eastern Sierras, my favorite place to fish or just hang out and forget about the world.

Great report Matt! Change out those red LipRip hooks before you latch onto a piggy, those hooks are not to be trusted!

thanks guys! and ya it was awesome! never get enough time up their, cody had a blast though we were a lil iffy is he was gonna be able to do a lot of it cause he just had hip surgery and had gotten his cast off the week b4 but he was a champ. a lot of those trails arnt wheel chair friendly but we made it happen! and ya mamie was cool could easily see fish just hanging out all types to rainbows, browns and brookes.. but the bows were the only ones wanting to bite.. first time taking the yak out to and im addicted! coming back home the heat sux though lol but i guess you always gotta come back to reality sooner or later lol

Very nice trip! In the past, I've had good luck on the brookies in the evening on flies.
