NPH session 8/23/14

Today was by far the most epic day of spottie fishing I've ever had at NPH. And, the fact that I was being a lazy angler for most of the day says a lot.

My total: 7 spotties at 10", 10", 12", 12", 14", 16", 17"
2 Calicos with the larger model being 10"

GhettoBasster caught several Spotties, a Sculpin, and Turbot which fought exceptionally hard.

16" spottie! This dang fish punctured the left bladder of my cumberland! Fortunately GhettoBasster had his pump with him. While it was a little tedious to pump the bladder back every 30min it sure beat going home early.

PB 17"!!! It didn't fight as hard as it could since it was so skinny. This guy slammed a crankbait in some super skinny water.

Thanks guys! That was a great session IF2L. You kicked my butt again! I like how we were discussing how we never do well with spinnerbaits and you nailed that huge spotty seconds later on a spinnerbait! Pumpkin plastics were the hot bait for us but IF2L nailed a big spot on a rattletrap. He caught on almost everything he threw out there.

BTW, on our last tube trip, I had a dorsal fin puncture my tube bladder; this time, a nice spotty punctured IF2L's. Be careful out there.

lol we could've bad mouthed those spinnerbaits for the whole day, but all I was getting were short strikes after that 16" one.

Thanks Dan. Spotties aren't difficult to catch if you can find them. As for Turbot though I can't help you in that department. I've yet to catch them myself, and after watching Ghettobasster's rod bend like a U while fighting that little 12" guy it made me want one lol.
