Looking on amazon and there are so many different types of lip grippers. I would be mainly using them for saltwater and not sure which brand to buy.

Me, too. I will be using them for halibut in the surf.

I also know people that use this one with no complaints.

Damn, how does Boga ever charge $200 for their lippers, when you can get one for $14.99?!

Highway robbery, I tell ya.

Ive been informed that its not the best idea to use them on fish that i plan on releasing so I am probably gonna hold off. the thrashing around on those grippers tends to mess up their jaws pretty good and dont want to do that

I only use them for stuff with teeth. Everything else gets the thumb treatment.

$200.00?? Maybe for the biggest model. For a great tool that carries a lifetime warranty the $120.00 I spent on mine is well worth it in my opinion.

I'd go with the Fish Grip. That's what I use. It's a heck of a lot lighter than the others (less weight on those long hikes in to an A.O.), float if you drop em and come in bright orange so they're visible when you drop em...which I've done. Again, you only want to use them on fish you intend to keep or if the fish have teeth you want to avoid and are just removing the hook...not to hang a releaseable fish from. You can also get it at West Marine locally. If they don't have it in-stock, you can have one shipped there for pickup.

Hope that helps.
