Lake Perris SRA will be closed to vessels from 0600 AM to 2:00 PM on Thursday Thursday August 21, 2014 due to the lake being treated with copper sulfate. Helicopters will be dropping this treatment which reduces the algae and weed growth and improves the taste and odor of the water which is used for drinking water. We are sorry for this inconvenience. The lake will reopen once this task is complete.

Perrisranger,

Can you provide any clarification on the "rumor" that Lake Perris is going to be closing due to the Dam Remediation?

If you look at the label on your Brita filter you will find that copper sulfate is mentioned predominantly.

Copper sulfate is poison. It is an algaecide. "Cide" means poison as in herbicide, insecticide. Makes the water taste better? How about contributing to cancer rates?
