View Full Version : No Tuna,no Yellowtail,Butt....8/18 LB

Our plan was to fish the yellows around Catalina, but with the late launch out of Davies we decided to stay local,started at Izors around 8am,we caught one turbot and not much else,then we decided to run to the Horshoe and rock pile again for not much.
Finally I said let's run to Palos Verdes and see if we can salvage the day which turned out pretty well,one halibut in 80' of water on a swimbait,estimate 25-30lbs,we got to the fuel dock were we've always weighed fish and the guy said our scale is being repaired,so that's our guess,by the way I'm 6'3, for comparison.

Pearl White 1 oz red head,15 LB flouro. By the way the area is loaded with small lizards,I failed to report that a small lizard ate the swimbait and then the butt ate them both,after gaffing the butt when I'd was retrieving the swim bait I saw the lizard in the throat,I pulled on it and noticed it was hung on the swimbait!

Thanks to all your nice responses,I haven't figured out how to reply to each comment on one post,but thanks to all,we were on the out side of the kelp in 80' actually there were still some stringers out there but we were definitely on the outside!

Thanks Robert,I know you SWAT guys know how to enjoy a flattie for sure,already had some old school style deep fried with some cornmeal,Italian breadcrumb,garlic powder rub,accompanied by homemade Mojos,and jalapeņo hush puppies,a heart stopping feast for sure,also had cheek and other nice pieces as sashimi,and still looking for to shiskabobs on the grill maņana!

Thanks Mark (Hometown)yeah you know how that goes,especially with halibut,the more you go the more your chances increases,that fish was such great eating I think the next couple of times out we are going to target just them.
