After what seems like years of duct pounding, a man needs a break and with the up coming
Hunting Giants 6 Tourney in the near future I figured why not wipe off the dust on the surf gear
and see if I still got it, its like riding a bike they say. Friday night I do a roll call and see who's
fishing and who's not, then throw out the idea of ditching the duct and heading to the beach for
a surf session. Surf Warriors for the day were Myself, Good buddy Khanh and Hai with the rest either
busy or already fishing "Boils". We decided to meet up @6 with prime tide conditions, a beautiful
sunrise and surprise of how many anglers were arriving, none like ive seen there before.
The morning started off kind of slow for me "nothing not even a bite" meanwhile Khanh & Hai slay the
Macks at a slow and steady pace, with tons of tiny chovies lining the shore everywhere and multiple airborne
mackerel throughout the morning, Finally on the board and skunk off with a slimy mack never smelled so good.
With everything looking perfect it was just a matter of luck and timing, mack, mack, salad, salad, mack mack,
SMACK and thump shake run,, oyeah this is the right kind, with Hai to the right of me I tell him it feels good
enjoying the fight. Being on the smaller size there wasn't much of a battle, but more of a exercise and with a quick
tide slide a beautiful baby butt comes in happy as can be with my kroc hanging out its mouth.
After a quick tape and measure by a fellow fisherman its a mighty size of 18", its no legal but just a refresher course
and hopefully a sign of many more in the future, if I am so lucky.
