hit the upper lake at 3 today made the 20 min hike the the x spot found two friends already there they where fishing whit n/c and sardines and i said to my self to hot for start throwing the sammy and i ask them for a n/c and long story short i caught this little guy

so my question for the pros is, is it a white crappie or a red ear ???
Looks like a bluegill. Not a crappie.

Looks like a red ear and a tule perch did it.

Agreed not a crappie.. It looks like a faded/washed out redear sunfish. It looks like a meal for the predators the living in Castaic..

yeah u guys r right but still pretty cool to see even with all the wolves around there I never though I would catch one

I'm guessing it's a bluegill that is scared white from all the stripers...

No ifs and or buts it is a pale bluegill. You can tell it is not a redear because there is no red outline on the gill spot. When bluegill or any other species of fish are in a lower oxygen environment they will get pale as in the case of the fish in the picture.
