Got a chance to fish the local park with the little tadpole. The weather was hot, sunny, the pond was like a desert wasteland. Fished for and hour with no bites. Lots of carp fart signs but no takers. Nothing but ducks and turtles trying to steal bait and get caught up in the lines. Everything animal seemed desperate for a hand out today. Tried to think like a fish, or maybe a overheated , sun baked human, and figured if we needed shade today so did the fish. Started throwing crawlers with no hooked exposed in the edge of the bushes, gave them a few shakes to free them up, and let the worm sink down to the dark shaded edges of the bush. Within 30 seconds the rod was pulled into the water but recovered and the catfish bush wack'in began. The tadpole ended up losing two in the bush but managed to wrestle two to shore. We had no rod holders today, and all four hookups resulted in rods in the water. Recovered all equipment and the kid landed his biggest catfish to date. Estimated weight 7 LBS.

All and all it was a great day of fishing with the kid, and we both had a blast bush wack'in these cats. This lake still needs alot work and hopefully the city full fulls there promise of restoring this park to it's glory days. Good luck out there, and don't forget the back yard beast is still out there.
