Went surfing Sunday with friends. Never fished this spot but knew there was lots of structure, so I brought my rod and a few LC's just in case. Arrived 5am, had to watch grey light come and go until the gate was opened at 6 am. Grabbed my gear and made the long walk. Waves looked nice but my friends hadn't arrived yet, so I put in my wet suit and grabbed my rod. First cast, salad. Second cast, salad. Third cast.... Salad? I tried to yank it from the kelp, when I felt it shake. Hmmm.....fish on!!
