Went out and did an early morning LBC smackdown. Not a bad day overall, but I had to work a little harder than usual for my fish. lol I'm use to a bite on every cast! haha

Total count: 15 fish

A mac

3 spotties at 10", 11", 11", I lost a 12"+ due to a rusty hook that snapped in half!

3 sand bass

5 calicos with the largest at 10"

A 10" grass bass

Sculpin

2 Opaleyes at 10" and 8"

Nice fish count IF2L. Been thinking about getting a float tube. Reports like this are inching me closer.

Nice fish count. Too bad about the bigun. Put it this way, we use pretty expensive hooks when we hunt big tuna and the captain told us in his 'pre-game' seminar, "is it worth a two dollar hook to lose a fish of a lifetime?" If you see some rust, dump it and get another. What if the fish you lost was a 30+" flattie, a legal seabass or some other fish of a lifetime? You'd be kicking yourself even harder...I know I did. Great report...keep it up!

Get the tube! You will love it. It opens up a whole new world you weren't able to access before. IF2L, that's an awesome trip! Too bad about the whopper you lost. I'll give you some of my non-rusted hooks lol.

Thanks Don. The problem is that I have quite a few rusty hooks that cost me a few dollars. :/

Thanks Vic! Tubing is always a fun way for me to get my fishing in.

Do it! Don't get a cheap one with a straw valve though. You're kind of throwing your money away. Tubes with boston valves are more reliable. But, if you don't plan on tubing as much I do then a simple tube with a straw valve will get the job done.

Tubing is great too considering that it doesn't burn fuel and too much money from your wallet. When you tube for a few hours in some 5-10kts winds you'll also get a decent workout.

Great job on the Tooooobe...I miss tubing the LAB and NPH.....My tube has a lot of dust on it just hanging in the garage....LOL
My problem is my left knee....Old skiing injury and overuse inflames my knee and I get fluid in it so now.....I walk the sand. Kinda sucks but that is what age and a ton of surfing, skiing, rock climbing and motocross injuries will do to you!
Keep up the great work and like Don said pretty much...If a hook has so much rust on it that it snaps....You need to give up those ghosts because they will eventually fail when you really need them to be reliable not to mention the barbs and point have to be compromised as well!

Thanks Bones. Sucks about the knee. But, you've definitely amassed some very impressive catches from the surf.

Yeah, I need to break from being a thrifty guy and just toss a hook when it's rusty.

Nice report. Awesome

Thanks!
