The family and I went down to Newport today for a day at the beach. I didn't plan to do much fishing but I came prepared just in case the opportunity arose. Got down there are and found a nice spot that was not choked out with people. Did the usual building sand castles and playing in the water. It started to sprinkle a little bit and people started leaving. I also saw a pod dolphins swimming by about 75 feet out with birds crashing behind them. Now was time to break out the gear. I set my son up with a some red gulp sand worms on a Carolina rig. Within about 5 minutes he was brining in his first surf perch. He was so excited to land the fish and show his mother. It felt very rewarding watching him jump up and down screaming with excitement. We fished for for about 45-60 minutes and landed around 6 perch. I threw the lc and Kroc around for a while and got no love. In all a great day on the water making memories. Thanks for reading.
