3:30 am launch out of Dana Pt on a buddies 24' Bayrunner. Night trolled for nada. Hit the Catalina - San Clemente Island gap about 10 miles short of the islands. One small paddy stop for a YT. 3 hours troll then a dry paddy. Another hour trolling then hit the magic paddy. 21 YTs total for 3 guys, 1 YT on the troll. A couple triple hookups, I bounced 2 YTs. 6 - 8 lb average and 5 at 15 lb.

Dana Pt had 7" dines and 1/2 mackerel mix. The smaller YTs were loving the 12" macs. 71 - 73 water temp all day.
Good times. :Death2Above:

We were on a 24' Ranger Bayrunner. Same as Hardcor Cory's DVL boat.

Get your FW boats out in this flat water. You guys can even buddy boat if you don't have vessel assist. Troll a 1/4 mile apart and share paddies and and troll hookups. Leave the dock a hour before sunrise. Stay within 10 miles and troll upswell, upwind. If the wind comes up then head for the barn. This Mexican tropical weather is nice right now out there.

Nice going DR. Those WFO paddies are fun. Those are some good tips, I used to do that when I ran my 17 footer offshore.

Sounds like you were hitting at around 9 am ??? based on what I can tell from your trolling 4 hours before you hit a jackpot paddy. We were out yesterday at about 12 miles south and 9 miles west. Had one boiler action but no hook up. could not find patties. Our water was down to 65 - 68. Going out this week again watching the water temp go up.
Thanks for your report.

A few around but not bad. One guy boxed our paddy twice. My buddy didn't want to share. 2 of us had our baits next to the motor and the boat owner had a YT on for 15 minutes with his rod tip in the water till they left.
