So I have a couple of trips planned up to Pyramid, the first is a boat rental/fishing trip with the parents this weekend, and I was wondering if anyone had feedback on the boat rentals. I vaguely remember posts about rentals being startted up a year or two ago, and that they are relatively expensive, but does anyone have any experience with them? Condition of boats, cost, number to call to reserve one?

Next quesiton is whether anyone has camped there. The reviews seem ok, clean, but a couple miles from the lake?

any info would be appreciated!

thanks,

Johnny

You can call 661-295-7155 for info. They do have rental boats and yesterday I was there and saw a several identical pontoon boats that were over by the rental boats. Not sure but you may want to ask if they are also available as rentals. The regular rental boats look pretty nice and the pontoons looked almost new.

Just called them, it's $55/85 for 1/2 versus full day rental on the boats, and the pontoons are there, but no reg stickers yet, she said a couple weeks for that.
for anyone interested, I also called about the camping, check in at 2, check out at noon, sounds very clean and relatively nice compared to the reviews I read on Cachuma/Casitas/Piru...

thanks for the info! Just called and the pontoons are now available, $280 for 8 hours, no option for shorter. Camping is next weekend, might head up there this weekend to do a little scouting. Figure yellow bar, and the inlet area, anchor up and fish bait. That sound about right? I assume there won't be a fish finder on the pontoon....

Make sure you take lots of anchor rope and a anchor

Thanks for all the info, guys! Planned a scouting trip today, but optometrist decided to diagnose a partially torn retina yesterday, so no activities until the specialist looks at it...
Hope it gets fixed by next week's camping trip!
