I've heard the stories, often wondered if I should arm myself and have been spooked pretty good a few times, but never been a victim. This morning, it happened. I got robbed.

Got out to the Duct around 4:15am. Pitch black outside. Had my headlamp on, but only use it away from the water and only when necessary. Start fishing and after a few casts I land 20" Striper on the LC128. Keep working the area when I hear some noise above and behind me. I'm like WTF is going on and I'm taking inventory of things on me I can use to defend myself. Best thing I got is my lip gripper and needle nose pliers.

Armed with the lip gripper and my phone, I walk up the bank to investigate and I'm confronted by this masked thief staring me down.

Damn raccoon trying to steal my fish! I chased him away from the fish and up and over the hill. He didn't go willingly, but he left.

Went back to fishing and it was sucking so I decided to grab my fish and move to the next spot. Go to get my fish and that SOB raccoon had snuck back down and stole it. Couldn't believe it, I got robbed!

Ended up getting 7 and stopped fishing around 7:30. Action wasn't all that great but I did manage a couple on the Silver Bullet TW. All the fish I'm catching are all pretty skinny these days.

Be careful out there and don't be a victim like I was today!

Wow, that must have been terrifying! If he didn’t get the message that you mean business when you came at him with the lip gripper he must be a real desperado.

I got robbed in New York City years ago with a knife at my neck but that doesn’t compare with your ordeal. Please be careful out there.

Oh, and Dave, please don’t feed the wildlife! LOL

I'm surprised you would mention that on the same thread as Dave's nightmare

LOL That's too funny Dave.

I've got 3 groups of them in my back yard. They are almost never alone. Are you sure one didn't take your fish while you chased the one you saw?

I was driving up the aqueduct one night way up north where you can years ago going about 50 mph when a whole family came up out of the duct scurrying across in front of me. No time to hit the brakes, no where to go and all I heard was thump, thump, thump. I must have killed them all. I felt bad, didn't even look back.
