So lets get the tough part of the weekend out of the way and do this report in reverse order.....

Saturday was a complete opposite of Friday for most of the Team 57 guys out on the water....fishing was TOUGH if you weren't fishing right inside the weeds or "in the hole" (that is what most did who found success). Fished hard from 10am-10pm with "Reelgurlzfish" without any success.....the day started ominously enough with the bad news that Big Daddy wasn't feeling well and had to go to the hospital to get checked out  (Thankfully BD is home and preliminary tests were all positive, God speed my brotha!) Maybe the worrisome news threw me off the rest of the day, because no matter what we did I could not duplicate the success from the day prior. Switched baits, switched spots, anchored and re-anchored A LOT while moveing to different areas of the lake, networked with the boys looking for a positive sign and I simply could not crack the code....to top it off I found my bag of evening gear had fallen into a puddle in the back of the boat and got all wet  The icing on the cake was when I started to notice the smal, itchy rash I woke up with behind the back of my left knee had spread over 1/2 my body....that was all I needed. I packed up an hour earlier than normal, licked my wounds from a nasty ol skunk and headed off into the night back to the San fernando Valley. I will be back Irvine Lake catfish and revenge will be MINE!

Rewind the tape back to Friday and by the results you would have thought this was a scene out of The Twilight Zone!

Beat BannedJr and Mr. Bendo to the lake (FIRST TIME EVER ) so I visited my buddy Rogelio at his cafe for a cup of java and a bite to eat(try the BLT on sourdough before hitting the lake if you haven't already).

By 10am we were launching, not an easy task for many....some just turned around and left, hopefully some weed wacking or isolated blue stoning goes down because it looked like the Everglades at the ramp. I heard of more than one person having mechanical issues as a result of the weeds so private boaters proceed with care. Having a late start we got the early morning report and the bite was pretty slow from what we were hearing. Motored around for a bit and I was first on the board around 11am with a chunky little kitty

No more bites and the crew was getting restless so we went to ol reliable "Bing's Buoy"....I was a little surprised to find nobody around the spot with all the boats already on the lake. It didn't take long to figure we made the right call, I got bit after 5 minutes soaking fresh mack slathered in Timster's favorite BITE-ON Cajun....BOOM!!!
(this fish among many others were released to grow and fight another day)

The bite went wide shortly thereafter and I was blessed to have "the hot stick" for the day....Double Double Irvine Lake style!

Great report :Big Grin:
I've been launching off the back side of trout island lately, the main ramp sucks. There's a dock back there and no weeds. You just need to break through the fishermen fishing the ramp. I tell them I can't launch off the main ramp and get ready to back down. I wish they'd put a "No fishing on or in between the ramp and dock sign. I'm going out Friday and looking to do some damage.
tight lines,
Steve

After all the reports that were filling up my phone from Friday I was stoked for Saturday! :Bug Eyes:WaWaWaaaaa! Who turned off the light switch and killed the bite! Lol
We got the skunk on Sat. and fried another impeller on Rooster's boat in the weeds! That's twice in about a month!:Censored:
Thanks for the sweet pics of Friday's slayage!
