Hey FNN! well I have been out surf fishing a total of 3 times since I first started about 6 days ago. The second time I caught 2 perch but I lost them on the shore when a wave crashed on top of them. Today was a different story though, I think I found a nice place where the fish hang out because every time I go THAT'S where I always seem to get bites and catch fish. I started the morning by casting out Berkley Gulp Shrimp and after about a half hour I had no action and I lost one of the shrimp because I got caught up on salad. I tied on another piece of the shrimp and cast it out, after waiting for a little while I felt a nibble and then I felt one of the biggest hits I've ever felt and tried to set the hook but to my disappointment the fish bit through my line and took off with the hook and the piece of shrimp. I felt bad and I hope the fish doesn't have the hook lodged in his mouth I could tell he bit through the line because of the way it was cut. I was all out of shrimp so I decided to tie another hook and start digging for some sand crab which was the best decision of the day! As soon as I started throwing out the sand crabs I was getting bites almost every cast and I ended up catching 3 fish in the last hour I was there! all of them were a small size but I don't care as long as I catch a fish and don't go home skunked! I released all fish I caught and left with a big smile on my face. Also I spotted a good sized fish possibly 10" in length, silver in color swimming really low in the skinny water swimming towards the wedge. Corbina maybe? Anyways here are some pics of today's fish. Tight lines amigos!

Nice post. Whenever I get a bite and line is cut clean, first culprit is halibut.

OK I'll keep that in mind. I've been wanting to catch a Hali that's my goal for this year!

Tough luck losing that big hit but that's what keeps us going back for more. Don't worry too much about that hook in the fish. It'll rust out soon enough. Keep it up and you'll get that mystery fish!

You'll land some and you'll lose some... that's fishing.
But the ones that you lose will keep you motivated and coming back.
Nice job out there.
