Took off out of Alamitos wed. morning with crew members Sid and Aaron. With a 2-day permit in hand we headed to Catalina to do some seabass slayage. We stopped at nachos for a scoop of squid. It was good to see my old friend and his compadres. After a brief chat, we headed to the island in smooth seas. We anchored in one of my favorite spot and it didn't take long before I was bent on the right kind! It was almost to the boat when a seal grabs it and takes it into the kelp. The line breaks and all we could do is watch while he slowly ate my 20 pound class seabass. At least we knew they are here! We ended up staying in the area and worked it hard that evening and the following morning. We ended up with 4 nice seabass and a halibut. We also released a few bat rays, short halibut, calicos, sheephead, and various other misc. Weather was excellent and great fishing with good friends.

Nice job on the ghosts. Was out at Anacapa/Santa Cruz on Saturday for nada. Seems like they were tight-lipped for almost all the boats out there that day.

The 2-day permit you're refering to... is that the "Declaration for Multi-Day Fishing Trip" from the DFG?
I was just looking into that on Friday.

Yes, that is the permit. It is $6 and you can mail it in or take it to a local office before you go.

This was a trip of a lifetime! I caught my first ever and PB Cbass at 22lbs then 30 minutes later I got another one. I couldn't believe it after trying so many times with boat limits sometimes and me striking out I thought I was cursed lol
