My buddy Mario and I went out yesterday for a fun session. We fished from 6-3 catching fish anywhere from 15-30ft and
landed a total of 54 lmb. five to six LM in the 3-4lb range and the usual 1's-2's. Big girl went 8.46 lbs

My fav part of the day:
My buddy says I catch a lot of fish because I'm at the front of the boat! So I let him control the trolling motor and take out the
rear seat for my self which I've never used. I caught 5 fish within 15-20 mins before he get's any bites, and then he said I must
have sold my soul for fish hook ups, haha maybe! It was just way to fun after that except for when I dropped my phone in the lake at the boat
ramp taking off my hoodie

We had a few double hooks ups. A few back to back catches and saw lot's of dead bluegill  I must of counted a
good 20 -25 or so. Clueless as to why?

Water Temp: 72-73

Nice! What general part of the lake and I assume you were fishing plastics at that depth. What color(s)?

Thanks,

Nice going man! Yeah, with me being a float tube ultralight pan fisherman, the numbers of dead Bluegill do have me worried. This happened about 10-15 years ago, with lots of dead, smelly BGs and REs all over the shoreline. Don't know if it's a disease or low oxygen or what.

The bluegill are extra sensitive to bluestoning, especially when they are bedding. The DFG is aware of this and call it "incidental by catch die off".

I don't Really see this being the case as the lake has a copper sulfate treatment done yearly and we don't experience a die off like this . the Treatment can interfere with the proper function of a fishes gills , but that is highly unlikely unless they overdose or we have very very rapid changes in water temp's causing it to become toxic to ANY fish .

More then likely its the rapid draw down of 15-17ft of water , added with the stress already associated with the weakened state of these spawning fish can cause an imbalance of sorts and trigger a die off .

Purple & light purple robos were working the best for us that day, Carolina and DS. Also got a good 15 on Ikas. South/East side of the lake

Thanks for the info troutsniffer. Those are some "killer" bass. Perris continues to pump out the big ones and DVL has gone to hell in a hand basket!!

Nice fish. I was there also on wed just for the afternoon. I might have seen you there as I was launching about the time you would have been leaving. I do believe I saw your friend with the orange shirt and big hat. I noticed a lot of dead bluegill also. A 3 to 4 pound dead bass also floated by me as well. I hope it's not some disease.
