"Happy Memorial Day" to all .... and may we all continue to be protected from harm .... and be BLESSED!

Monday Session, May 26, 2014, My Session #30 for the 2014 Season,

Sun Rise: 0546 hrs, Sun Set: 1955 hrs

Conditions: Early morning slight on shore breeze which did not allow my casts to travel as far as I would have liked them to during the incoming low tide, there were a few areas that allowed for much cleaner waters, there were many other areas that I couldn't fish because I gathered lot's of chopped salad on my lure during the retrievals in those areas. I found a spot ... a piece of heaven (if you will) and stayed with it .... and it produced. Thank you  Poseidon! The beach was flooded at 4.1-ft HT and was super FLAT. I couldn't :EyePop: buy a wave if my life depended on it!
Tides: 0500 hrs ICT 1.1 ft, 0600 hrs 2.2 ft, 0700 hrs 3.3 ft, 0800 hrs 3.94 ft, 0900 hrs HT 4.1 ft, 1000 hrs OGT 3.8 ft, 1448 hrs LT -0.3 ft.

Assault Tactic: LC 110 lure and Drop Shot methods.
AO: Classified .... LA County Beach.

Fish count:

Note: For those of you who think our fish come easy for us SWAT guys ... it doesn't for most of us .... here's an example of the time I put in:
Fri 5-23 for 7.0-hrs and hiked 5.14- miles and 931-ft in elevation
Sat 5-24 for 4.0-hrs and hiked 2.90- miles and 466-ft in elevation
Sun 5-25 for 6.5-hrs and hiked 4.25- miles and 656-ft in elevation
Mon 5-26 for 5.0-hrs and hiked 3.80- miles and 555-ft in elevation

Summary: I devoted 22-hrs (not including my driving time) to fishing in four days and I walked while in the surf and or I hiked (up and down) searching for good structure or holes for a total of 16.90-miles, elevations hiked= 2,608 vertical feet over 4- days, covered over 6 AO's, put in the miles driving, continuous gear and lure maintenance ... and all for the reward of one or two good fish.
Was it worth it ..... Oh ya!!

So when we say that you have to put in your RECON time and that you need to practice your patience, your perseverance, your determination and with your developing skills ... collectively, it will all come together and pay off for you soon ..... it always does in the end!

Here are some added photos I took during my hike between AO's for your enjoyment. A bit of "Spring" is still in the air!

CPR Note: All of my fish were handled carefully and were released ASAP after being measured and photographed. Just good ol' karma.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my fish report!

Dan, you had a slow couple of days, but your persistence finally paid off for you. Not only did you add another legal hali to your count, but man what a beast of a Calico! You couldn't have said it any better in your weekend summary. To catch quality fish you have to put in the time. Nice work my friend. Hope you and Rhonda had a good Memorial weekend.

Dan...Your dedication to both physical and emotional health is inspiring. The fish....They are just a bonus but not required to reap the rewards of this sport we have all grown to love and cherish. As a USMC veteran you developed both the physical strength and right attitude many years ago and it shows in both your dedication to your fishing adventures and also your compassion towards your gal Rhonda.
This report shows all of us that a good attitude and positive perspective is very rewarding in life and always provides us with the "Glass is half full" insight in life.

I for one....am proud to know you and call you my friend "Danimal" Thank you so much for your inspiring report and your dedication to making our country and this world a better place.

Hi ya Brotha John,

After three days of being skunked ... it felt really great  to have my luck change for me.
I had hoped to have hooked up with you at your AO but I had just missed you ... so I went ahead and spent a couple of hours there and I was very pleased with some of the structure that was forming! It looked as though it could develop into something very promising soon .... indeed Sir! Let's hook it up there soon my friend!

Hey Commander!

I've learned what it takes to get to the fish ... by fishing with inspiring friends like you my friend!
Some days I don't even get as much as a bump ....and I can admit to not really caring at times ... because being out there in the suds can be so spirit lifting for me and that I can find it extremely difficult to leave it at times .... it's where I can find my tranquility and myself.

Hi ya basshole1,

It was a toad indeed but it didn't pull down and fight like it was a 20" toad ... heck I thought it was a pancake at first until I got it up in the skinny and it rolled and showed it's girth .... I didn't have a clue! I appreciate your kind words Sir!

Hi ya Sista Tess,

I do enjoy spending a lot of my morning hours in the surf and I do this with out any exceptions of fish or Leader Board pressures.
I have to admit ... I am a bit of a lone soldier ... I do enjoy the solitude while in the salt when the only voice in my ears is the whispering wind or the sound of the crashing surf which blocks out all of the noise of the world. And that's where I find my peace. It's that honest peace which allows me to refill my spirit.
Plus .... a caught fish now and then never hurts neither .... eh!? Ha ha ha!

PS .... Don't tell Jason this ....... :Secret: Shhhhhhh! But I was beside myself when I saw that 20" Cali charge out of the kelp line at my lure on the retrieval and I tried to jerk it away quickly, making the monstrous Calico miss it, before this brute of a fish could chomp down on my lure .... I did this because I realized in my heart that this was Jason's fish to-be-had, but the fish wouldn't have any part of it .... it was extremely persistent and wouldn't stop until it had devoured my offering ... and ....
oh well ... the rest is now history ! Our lil' secret ....ok! :Secret: Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

"The Danimal"!

Hi ya Brotha Don,

Thank you for always going that step beyond, for always giving it that "just a little bit more" ... that ..."just one more cast" attitude which I really like about you my friend.
I did .... I stopped wearing all of the other colors and put back on my red cover ... and then ....Bam on the first cast! The rest of the story is in my report Sir.
You have been a good friend and a trusted confident .... and I thank you for that.

Also .... thank you for mentioning my service to our Country.
I didn't fight to protect our shores from an attack like our fore fathers did but rather I volunteered to help others in a far away country, I heard their cry for help , for fairness and freedom, and I just wanted to help them ... no matter what the cost.
And at the time it felt like it was the right thing to do ..... I wouldn't have done it differently.

You also humble me my friend .... for I was not a hero ... but a soldier like so many others. The young soldiers of today are now my heroes!

Thank you Nick,

You and every one else are thanking me for my service to our country and I'm finding it very difficult to find the keys on my keyboard with my eyes completely whelped up.
I am not used to hearing .... "thank you" for my time in Viet Nam but rather a life time of the opposite has filled my ears.
It was my honor ... you and your family are truly welcomed.

Hi ya Brotha Ken,

I really don't believe that I deserve anything ...
but I know ... that if I approach a situation with the correct attitude, patience and determination .... I know that I can earn just about anything ... including a fish.

You also humble me my friend .... I was a soldier like so many others. The young soldiers of today are now my heroes!
I say .... "let's all rally behind them now and give them our love and our full support"!

Hi ya blackwater ,

It was my honor Sir ... I just hope that my presence created some long lasting positive effects in the lives of the people, rather than the opposite. I can only hope.
I know that many generations of people are here as a result of our interaction and that they are enjoying and prospering in our amazing Nation today because of it!

On the other hand .... catching the fish was absolutely a lot of fun, but for most of the time I was caught off guard by the bite ... I was usually in a a state of being  mesmerized when ... BAM ... the shaking stix :EyePop: would bring me back to the now ... FISH ON!! Yahoooo!!!
