Left home @ 4:30am. Was fishing the rocks @ 6am, no response from the LC. Threw out a crock, and picked up a small calico w the first cast. Fought 3 more and a Big Mac. Tried to surf fish after the rocks but the waves were 4'+. Decided to drive to the bay, checked out a couple spots before I settled on one. By now it was 1:30. Fished for an hour w/nothing. Switched to my red LC, and picked up a fish on the first cast. My first California halibut!!! It was a shorty but I was more then happy. Caught one more that measured out to 17". It really put up a fight! Turned out to be a great day!

Going to try and down load pictures. I had them transferred to photo bucket but not sure how to attach them. Isn't there an easier way?

The way I post photos is copy the img. file under the picture I want and paste it into my post. I'm sure others have ways as well.

Congrats on the first halibut. Way to try different things.

That LC is called a "Nishiki", an old school pattern that works well.
Congrats on your first Halibut, now go out and get a legal! :Big Grin:

So many great reports coming out of NPH. Sometimes I wish I lived closer to the OC so that I can hit up the harbor more often. Love throwing those Krocs, cool fish and cool report.

Yeah, fishing with a Kroc is fun. I love hucking that thing out there. I was having best luck with chrome and blue.

Calicos and halibut...my two favorite fish to target! Great job out there during your solo therapy session! Now go share the success with friends!

Thanks guys, would have loved to have been fishing with friends, that's half the fun. Problem is they flaked out. It's an hour drive to the spots I fish, and I guess they can't get out of bed at 3am. But I did meet a couple cool cats down there fishing LC's. There probably members of this forum....lol.
