Late post. I had an insane day with GhettoBasster.

Fish count: ME: 5 spotties, 4 sandies, 4 calicos, 1 lizard

GhettoBasster: 1 spottie, sandie, lizard, and a mystery fish.

Cruising through the LBC at 5 in the morning feels kind of weird.

Had my first mini bay bass grand slam after only an hour and a half on the water.

Check out the purple on this sandie's chin. I've never seen that type of coloration.

The beast! My PB in fact. It taped out at around 16.5" I couldn't get it straight so it could be longer, but it was a fat girl. I landed her on 6lb mono and a small size 4 ewg hook. She was pulling drag like mad. I think the fight was close to over a minute lol or at least it felt like it.

What fish is this? I have no clue. Is it a snakehead? :P

Thanks that spottie was something else. I was messing around as I see that damn fish as a lot of people's mystery fish. It was first time seeing a mature sized one.

Nice going,awesome looking spottie,cool pics,thanks!

Thanks troutsniffer. Yes! When are we going to see another Calico or spottie report from you?

Thanks DR. The spotties and Sandies fought extremely hard that day lol even harder than the Calicos. They must be eating well because even the dinks were putting a good bend on my rod.

Thanks dude! I tell you practically all of my fish have been caught on 6lb and not once have I hooked into a bass where I couldn't stop it even my previous 15" Spottie only gave me a little tug. This 16.5" model on the other hand stripped off about 10-15yds before I was able to turn him. I was fighting the current, the fish as it was blitzing away, and praying for the fish to stay on. Best fight ever. I'm definitely waiting for that 18 incher.

Epic tube outing! WTG on landing that beast of a spottie on light tackle. I'm too chicken to use anything below 8lb on the spots. Been busted off too many times.

Thanks Jaysuuun. For me 8lb is already too heavy for my finesse techniques. It impairs the action of the lure too much. Although my 6lb does get frayed easily when I'm fishing deeper pilings, e.g. 20ft+.

Congrats on the PB! Very nice fish man. Nice shot of your thumb too, but could you imagine what that midshipman woulda done if you tried to lip him?:LOL: Looks like a full day of catching. Way to go!

Bass thumb is always a good sign of a productive outing albeit somewhat uncomfortable. Great job out there!
