Was off road with the 4x4 in the west Barstow area and found this. I think its a young Coyote, just look at those teeth.44106

I'm not convinced it's a Coyote, might just be the camera angle. Does not look pointed or long enough, molars do not look like canine enough. Look at your GSD's rear teeth for comparison and measure from the eye socket to nose also.

I think its a Bobcat!.... but the orbital socket kinda looks small.

The taxedermy guy hopefully drops in and answers

Illegal to posses without a tag. But I would anyway.

After seeing the second picture I have to agree with Cutbait on it perhaps being a Bobcat. Looks more cat than canine. Look at the ratio of the thickness of the canine teeth to the length also, could also be a young Cougar. Ask etucker aka frenchy you know that .22 cal mountain lion hunter, he's an expert ya know. lol

Crap you beat me to the punch!!!!! I was going to say, "if it had what looked like a .22 wound to the head, it must have been one of my mountain lions I only wounded and crawled off to die a slow and painful death." lol

It was in front of an old gold mine with tunnels that went into the hill side and very deep into it. Went in it part way but got scared. Seen a lot of bats in there.

I agree with Double A, chupacabra!

It could be a badger (https://www.google.com/search?q=badger+skull&client=firefox-a&hs=CRJ&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&biw=1120&bih=604&tbm=isch&imgil=NS_PoAqJUWagYM%253A%253Bhttps%253A%252F%252F encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com%252Fimages%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9 GcSShNRXTC80eVLfZYO7VBqXUyZ6GPurDSCISwNQfxZlYW6KAY Oi%253B597%253B868%253B9g5bnH6BN9LlwM%253Bhttp%252 53A%25252F%25252Fdonsimpson.deviantart.com%25252Fa rt%25252FBadger-Skull-B-70220212&source=iu&usg=__p0uyuFrvSsZ8z_vCDh_ZTK4wcZg%3D&ei=w55zU8G6Ic-3yAS5jYDoDQ&ved=0CCsQ9QEwAA#channel=sb&q=wolverine%20skull&revid=752526747&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&tbm=isch&imgdii=_) though.

Thanks for the Reply guys, now I think it could be some kind of wild cat, the old mine caves are all over out there and could be a good place for them. Here is some of the deep shafts that I found, no fence around these things watch out where you walk.4410944110

I'm all in for it being a Cougar after looking at this pic, a Bobcat has fangs that are slender and very long. This looks very much like a Cougar.

It's a lion, I compared the picture to my fake but anatomically correct teeth in my life sized mountain lion mount and it's a match.

That seam line in the bone around the jaw below the eye matches very nicely.

I think Dev is correct, it's a cougar.

It's interesting how similar so many of the skulls are.
