What a nice beautiful place to fish!

We left for Havasu from fontana friday night at 8pm and arrived at 3am. We manage to get 2-3 hrs of sleep and got hit with a nasty sand storm, crazy winds and rain.
That saturday am we headed out by 7am after grabbing a quick bite to eat. When we got to the launch ramp it looked pretty hardcore out there with 10 mph winds and up.
Not my kind of conditions but we did drive far for this trip. So off we went!

We headed up the river and I've never been in current so fast moving. I have a 36V trolling motor and we just managed to barely make it by cranking that thing up on almost full speed!
After fishing for 20-30 mins in the main river we decided to fish the coves and pockets and we started catching nice size fish!
My first hook up there was a 4lb lmb. Then we caught a few 1's and 2's And I hooked on on my first ever smb. It was a 1lb'er but wow these animals sure can fight!
A bit later my buddy hooks up to a giant in the same cove. Hook up, fights it for a bit then loses it 5 ft from the boat. Bummer! It was a 6-7lb from what I saw. Tried a
few other areas up the river before the sand bar and my other buddy Jaime hooks up with his 1st lmb there and his first smb. Bad conditions but Sweet day so far!

After catching more 1's and 2's we end up going to the main lake. As we were crusing around I saw a nice spot and within 2-3 cast I hooked up with a nice smb. 3lb new pb for smb =)
More lmb to hook up. The next spot I land Another nice smb. 4.80lbs and what a fight :EyePop: :EyePop: :EyePop: smallie went down with a big fight.
What a good day! I had a realistic goal of catching a 5lb smb and I pretty much almost hit that goal. I was a happy man with the turn out of this trip and so was my
buddy Jaime! Can't wait to go back again and get those smb

Water temp: 64
Winds: HIGH

That lake is awesome.... You have to cruise through the channel as well. Fish a little and look at scenery.

Is that a Max 4 camo buff? Or just a hunting face mask?

Dude... Just make the trip out to the river. Parker Strip is super good for smallmouth too. Whats up with it taking 7 hours to get to Havasu from Fontana? Did you stop to sleep?

Although that mask is good for wind protection and may make you feel cooler, I do not think it has the same effectiveness as a real buff. The buffs use a material (a form of stitching actually) that give them their UV protection. If you are using to keep the sunburn away I would still wear sunblock under it.... as funny as that may sound.
