I didn't get to fish, but I was wandering all over the canyon talking with folks and taking pictures of the fun. It was really cool opener (forgive the pun). Anyhow, it was in the teens Saturday morning and there was snow everywhere after receiving as much as 10" of the white stuff on Friday - still, it was gorgeous out there.

The bite at Sabrina was dead - the report I got from the game warden who hiked to the back was that there were about 40 people with about 4 fish between them. There were about 10 cars at South Lake but I didn't get any reports from folks - I would imagine it was the same or worse there. If anyone hooked up on something big at either lake in the afternoon, it's gonna be of the Brown Trout variety and it's going to be huge so we'll all find out sooner rather than later.

Intake II was somewhat of a circus with people lining the shoreline all around the lake. Still, just about everyone had fish on the stringer - which I take as a good sign. Lots of buzz about the biggun's being caught, especially near the dam. Rumors of a 10+lber were out there but these are just rumors at this point. I did however confirm catches of 5lbs, 4.25lbs and the biggest fish of the day as of about 5pm Saturday was 9lbs 8oz (wooo hoo!!). Those that follow the Parchers Resort Facebook page may know that I called my shot a few days back predicting that the biggest Rainbow of opening day will be over 8lbs and come out of the BCC...I've be scouring facebook at the internet for proof otherwise but so far, that's the case and I wouldn't be surprised if the top 3 Rainbows came out of our canyon.

The bite at North Lake was wide open from the few folks I talked. It's a rare day when folks can drive there on opening day and even more rare when they can stock it. Great news for folks who love fishing there.

The fishing on the creek was varied but most folks caught fish and seemed to be quite happy with the day. I can't say exactly why (maybe new hatchery driver?) but it seemed like some holes were just plugged with fish while others held just a few. Not surprisingly, folks working the creek were doing the best while those that just stayed in one area didn't fare as well. Some truly monster creek fish were caught - which is pretty exciting. Fish weighing 8lb 14oz, 7lbs 12oz, 7lbs 8oz, and 5lbs all came in out of the creek...and these are just the fish I could confirm. There were reports of many more. Bill Karr from WON caught a few folks just below Sabrina who had managed 3 fish that all looked to be 6lbs or better - I'm waiting for his pic at which point I'll share.

I'm still very excited about fishing in our canyon as the bigger fish caught were just a fraction of what was stocked - so we should have a few more weeks of bigguns at least to look forward to.

Here are a few pics from opening day....I used the img links from our website. If you want to see larger images, feel free to visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Parchers-Resort-South-Lake-Landing/79705363136?ref=hl
