Khanh and I made an AV Duct run Friday night then I fished the SJV on Saturday afternoon.
We met after dark and carpooled to the west side of the AV then worked our way to the East.
We got news of an earthquake happening while we were driving. There was speculation that the quake would put the fish off but we were already there.
I got one hit, upstream a ways from a gate. It was a hard hit but was gone in the first few inches of my hook set. I thought I had another hit later at a gate but I'm not sure, it might have been some tar in one of the seams or the like.
Khanh beat the skunk at a siphon outlet.

Khanh wanted a bigger one but it wasn't to be. At least he didn't catch what I caught! :Skunk:
Around 2am we headed for the house.
Khanh one!
Ron none!
On Saturday I worked on my motor and found out that the rollers in the tapered roller bearing are shattered. At that point I decided to have the lower unit rebuilt by a mechanic, which cleared the rest of the day for fishing!
After stopping and talking to Amir at Lakeside Boats in Canyon Country, going shopping and getting something to eat, I finally headed for bako around 2:45 pm.
At my first stop, I didn't see any fish or have any action. I did find out that I need to charge my cameras before each trip, So, no BlueCam video today.
At my second stop I didn't see any fish or action and had decided to move on when I had a follower. I stuck with it a little longer and was rewarded with a keeper.

19" and the skunk buster! Released.
I flailed the water in this spot for a while longer but didn't have any more followers and packed it up.
At the third stop it looked pretty dead until it got calm on the surface, I noticed some baitfish moving around down the way and made a beeline for them. Before I got close, I started seeing followers. It took a while to get them excited enough to grab the lure but they eventually went for it.

Just short.
After releasing that one, I had to flail for a while more to get them going again but was rewarded with a another.

Just Short.
After a few more casts, I moved on.
I stopped at major bridge that I had seen people at earlier. I noticed water flowing in on the other side of the bridge and across the duct. I made a couple casts then jumped in the truck and headed for that flowing water.

This what I found.
My first cast from the left side of that pipe was followed out from under the bubbles and hit where I could watch, in just a few inches of water. Very cool!

20". This is my big fish of the day! I kept this one to give to some friends. They are going through fish fast because it's Lent.
A few casts later from the right side of the pipe, I was watching for my lure to come out from under those bubbles, when I saw a 5 or 6 lb striper come out from under them. Two cranks of the handle later the lure missed it's head by inches. The fish just spooked and went for deep water. What can you do?
After this I went around and tried to find another duct access point, thinking "It must be right over there." and wound up back at I-5. I was nearly out of time and just jumped on the 5 and headed home.
I caught a bako limit and 2 shorts but I can't help thinking that 10 fish is a limit. LOL
