Just got back from the local park, heard they stocked 500 lbs of trout. The park was dead, not one fisherman on the pond except me,not a good sign for a recent plant. After fishing for 30 minutes with no bites I figured either their never was a stock, or the ten Cormorants I saw on the lake cleaned them out. I no those greedy trout slaying beasts follow the trout trucks around and eat every trout in a couple of days. Couldn't go home with a skunk so I fished of Carp point and nailed this beast. Felt like my rod was gonna snap!!

Caught one carp before the park and recreation guys pulled up on my spot and killed the bite, guess they hit the islands and cull the duck eggs , because they had a bucket full of them when they left. Population control.http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo353/carpinator_photos/32bfbf78-289a-4c1b-bb05-596bd099e459_zpsb999410e.jpg (http://s391.photobucket.com/user/carpinator_photos/media/32bfbf78-289a-4c1b-bb05-596bd099e459_zpsb999410e.jpg.html)

I know that place, caught quite a few LMB there. Even caught a white koi fish. Never cared to fish for trout there because the water isn't so clean.

I wonder what the deal is with the duck eggs?

Well if there not wild ducks , like 90% are at these city lakes then it is just to keep those populations in check .. If they are wild I can see them removing them due to aggression issues or to help them hatch due to large populations of cats in the city waiting for that free meal .

as far as i know they dont even stock simi anymore. used to be a great little lake. about 2-3 years ago they would stock and all the fish would die in the same day they stocked so they stopped. they still put it on the stocking list but only stock if the water temp is good. which it never is

They are culling Coot populations.

Coots reproduce at an insane rate, and they brood-parasitize each other. the department of fish and wildlife kills hundreds of thousand of coots every year, as they produce copious amounts of feces, and crowd out other birds.
