So, I caught my first freshwater fish in about 29 years. I think I was 10 the last time I caught a freshwater fish. I have learned of Cerritos Regional park, which is about 5 minutes from my work. I went to the lake this morning for about 15 minutes and I caught this

I think it is a bluegill!

Nice 'gill!

I remember city parks used to have big populations of these guys. Now, not so much.

grats on your first fish out of cerritos!! Yesterday the trout bite was going off but they were TINY...Small even by DFG standards. 5" stockers...I was zoning out jigging, felt a bite, set the hook...and ended up yanking the fish out onto my backpack....lol.

5" stockers...

So apparently they're no longer even trying.

Quinn, where are you?! We need answers. 5" stockers?! Why not just toss some trout eggs in the lake and call it a day?

;-)

Nice job on your first freshwater fish in 29 years.

I'm hoping that this hasn't been an ongoing skunk thing but that you've not been fishing the fresh.
