Long Report:
Decided at 12:30 monday morning that I was going to fish with Booger on the San diego. Got my stuff ready and loaded up in the car so I can get my 2.5 hours of sleep to make the trip in the morning. Left my house at 0315 and got to the landing right about 0500. Paid for my ticket and walked on to see only 15 other people (3 of which were my buddies). By far this is my favorite boat to fish in San Diego for 3/4 day trips. Capt. Ryan works hard all day to put you on fish. I fell asleep in the galley and woke up when we slowed down to put the sonar to work.

Not too long into looking we found our first group of fish. I wanted to put the hurting on these fish so I tightened my drags down tighter than usual and realized real soon that I would pay for it. My first drop down with my kicker 25 heavy, I get THREE cranks off the bottom to get slammed. This fish did not want to turn its head, even with my drag set to kill mode. I ended up pulling the hook and bending the hook out. Whoops :] I bend it back and keep fishing.

A little later I hook another fish and a same thing.. A little after getting stopped on my grind to the surface, I start my battle with another yellow and straighten out another hook :[. After fighting through my beer impaired mindset, I realize I have my owner 4x hooks in my bag and immediately cut off the stock hook and replace it. Send it down after a little move and gets bit again. This time, the hooks stay and it comes over the rail.

Fish were biting the yo yo, surface, sinking yo yo, and bait. I got my 2nd fish on the sink, had 2 pulled hooks after switching out to owners (went back to pulling hard) and ended up breaking one fish off at my junction knot.. lol I got 2 other fish on the surface iron and my last fish came off the yo yo.

I went 5 for 10 hook ups. One of the best days of yellow tail fishing Ive ever had. Capt. Ryan and the crew put in work. I was thankful for a light load, great weather, and amazing memories. I had my gopro on for the first couple fish but I didnt charge it to well. It died mid day. But i got some good footage. I left it on the boat and I should get it back this week.
