I hit up DVL 3 days this past week. Practicing for the next NBW...Here is my dutiful report:

Water temp was 60.5
Some algae...not much
Temps in the low 80s
Breezy after 11 o'clock from the west

Without making this too long of a report I will only discuss yesterday...I caught 20 fish yesterday and that was before 1 p.m. Every fish I caught was over 2.5. My biggest was 5.5 and was NOT a bedfish. My best bag yesterday was 5 for 20.79. I left a wide-open bite to avoid holiday traffic heading back to Corona. Only 2 I caught were bedfish...All fish very healthy. Fish are moving up. I did see other fish on beds but I left them alone. It takes some searching. I caught fish in 0-15 feet of water. I did catch some Carolina Rig fish as well... Met some nice FNN folks out there. Just practicing the ideology that Matt has been teaching me for about a year now about reading the water and letting the fish tell you what they want. Looking for key attributes in regards to conditions and structure together that make for stacks of fish in certain places. Its nice to see fat, healthy fish at DVL again and not the big headed skinny bass that we have been seeing the past few years. Ill post some pics later when I get home from work...

Talked to several striper trollers who had nothin...Said striper fishing was very slow.

Thanks for the report SC. Glad to hear your catch was of healthy fish. A healthy fish population at DVL is music to my ears! Perhaps the Striper bite will improve after today's stocking.

Ouch. So much for the nice empty lake to ourselves. Release the freakin hounds now. You better hope they don't beat the hell out of the lake before your tourny. It can get UGLY quick out there.

Ok, so I'm on my way home from Perris today and I look over at my fishing buddy and I say you know what Bill, I have a sick feeling that we missed something today at DVL. Now reading your report I know we did. Good job out there man. And good report. Perris wasn't bad, perhaps a little beat up from Marino's rampage two weeks in a row, but I knew DVL would pop any day. I wish I saw this report yesterday...
