I was gettin' ready to crash when my buddy called and said that he wanted to throw some lines in the water. It was fairly late but I couldn't pass up on an opportunity to go fish for a few hours with an old friend. MDR was the destination. Got there around 11:00 pm and began to throw big hammers eager to land something. Tried various colors and sizes with no success. An hour passes by and still nothing. Feeling a little weary from all the walking and casting, we decided to dunk some squid strips with the hopes of a bite. Fifteen minutes into it, I had two lines out and right when I was attending one of my reels, BAM!!! ROD BEND!!! I had no idea what was on the other end but this sucker seemed pissed. I fought it for a few minutes, got it close enough to see what it was and it was a bat ray. It was pretty small, nothing to brag about but it was my first one and I was very excited :Dancing Banana: Two hours on the water, one fish, time well spent if you ask me.

I remember most of my "firsts" and it's always nice to scratch one off the list. Thanks for sharing!
