I got all me gear ready to go on Friday night for a chance to fish SD harbor on Sunday. Girly wanted a vacation so I mentioned down town SD, with the intention of sneaking in some fishing before we came home. I couldn't wait to hit the water so I got up before her Saturday morning and snuck out for a quick session. only fished an hour but did manage to coax this guy out of the rocks.

called it good after getting my fix and went home to pack for SD.
After tearing up the town Sat night we slept in Sunday and didn't get to SD harbor to wet a line until around 2:00 pm!!
Low tide, a bit of a breeze but me and the girl each caught 1 cookie cutter spot. first ones we've caught in SD. we get a few every now and then in DPH.

Grass bass are always fun! WTG. Harbors have been crap right now when the tides go down.

Nice couple of fish there. Tough conditions along the coast these days, but the harbors offer a fair shot at a fish. Way to pull a few out.

Nice job getting fish to play, on multiple days.
S.D. bay holds a nice assortment of fish.
Take your girl in the summer for a chance at some Bone Fish..
Thanks for sharing,
Robert

I just got some good news, I'll be In san D again this weekend and get to fish Saturday. I was thinking about fishing shelter Island this time. anyone Know of any differences or if either shelter or harbor island is better?

Used to launch at shelter island for the tuna fish in Mexican waters, never got a chance to fish the harbors but looked real fishy.

Shore wise I'll take harbor over shelter. For number, can't beat 3" or 4" gulp minnow on the drop shot. Harbor island is like my home court. If u want some more info shoot me a pm.

I'll be down there Saturday. Shelter Island can be pretty good but I certainly wouldn't limit myself to one zone so fish both. There are some other zones to hit from shore that are pretty productive as well, I'd make my way around and explore. A trip to SD Bay usually ends up in something with MB as well.
