Thats right folks, this afternoon I officially gave the striped one the boot. Was sitting at work day dreaming about fishing and decided to look at the tide reports. Noticed that there was a negative tide coming in around 5:30 pm so I figured I would take this time to check out a couple of areas for some structure.
Got to the first spot I was interested in and found a spot that I thought looked good from reading posts on here. Started casting out a LC but wasn't getting bit. After about 30 mins I decided to throw on a Gulp sandworm on a carolina rig. About 5 mins in I get a nice strong hit as Im pulling my rod up. I reel down and go to set the hook. Miss. Put another worm on and bam same thing happened. At this point I am excited that I am getting bites. Cast a few more times in the same area and bam my pole bends. Got the guy in and measured out a 15 in. perch (This is the point I get my cell phone and realize battery is dead. so no pic). After a quick unhook I let him go back to the drink to be caught another day.
Ended up fishing for another hour until sun went completely down and packed it up and headed home.
I am officially hooked on surf fishing.:Big Grin:
