Went to Malibu this morning with my brother despite the high wind warnings. Upon arrival at 7am, it was really windy but the water was very calm. Started off with the LC for a few cast before changing because of massive amounts of kelp I was raking in. Switched to my favorite Kroc and continued down south.
At around 8ish the wind practically died down and the water was crystal clear and calm. Eventually, I hooked up to 8 inch perch right at the edge. Thought it was just a fluke. Oh how I was wrong :D . From like 8-9:30 it was nonstop bites and hook ups on decent sized perch from the smallest 8inches to the largest 14 inch. What was really cool was that you could see your lure being tailed by sometimes up to three perch and then your drag would just scream.Called my brother and he came running back to my spot. My brother was able to catch 5 nice size fish ,one of which was 14 inches and chunky. At around 10am, seals started to show up around us and the bite slowed down dramatically. The perch were wising up to our lures and were only following our baits but not biting. If only they made weedless LC's would have caught some larger models. We decided to move down the beach and saw a few beans. Called it day at around 11. I haven't had a fishing this this amazing in a long time.
Fish count : Kept only 4 and the rest were safely released to fight another day.
