formal introduction, maybe got off on the wrong foot?

Sup dudes. I'm phill, just joined the site this morning. I'm on scsurf and bloody decks. Couple people have met me, some have fished with me. Active duty navy MP from corpus Christi Texas, stationed out here in seal for another 3 years.

Reason for my title is simply because I may have started off on the wrong foot. I did indeed jump off at a fella in his post for posting a thread fishing in our harbor (Anaheim bay). I do appologize for coming off a little intense, but it has stirred up a bunch of crap in the last few weeks that ultimately falls back on us as security. So we no longer have weekends off, but oh well. It is what it is.

Only been here a year, but I've got a decent track record. Anyways I'm gonna share a few fish from the last few months, and hopefully there isn't any further animosity as I'm apologizing for goin off this morning

I saw your post from this morning and I completely understand why you went off and YES there are a lot of guys who love to see how far they can push the rules not understanding that it will affect someone else. Believe me I would never hold it against you. Thank you for your service also.

Ill share my spots if you share yours :) I used to fish out there with a guy named Clay that was station in Los Alamitos the halibut fishing is Epic from the main Peninsula down the beach they hit hard like they never seen an Lucky Craft lure before.

Most of them haven't. They are tide controlled, we watch em with the meters on boring days, they sweep out with the tide and new ones comebin. See that's what I'm talking about, I don't mind sharing our awesome fishing with folks who have the courtesy to respect it. Drop me a message dude, we can cook something up eventually

I understand where you were coming from. Some don't realize the impact of what seems to be a fairly innocent activity such as fishing in out of bounds areas. Whether it be ninja fishing golf courses, quarry's, overnight where not permitted there is an impact on resources. It's not about being a jerk or being a goody 2 shoes it just affects resources and resources cost time and money no matter whether it be armed forces, cops or security guards, not to mention those that think it's ok to vandalize cut fences and stuff (really those are the ones that piss me off!). I have plenty of fisherman I know that break the rules to a degree and I don't really judge because I'm not perfect either. But understanding that you are affecting people should be an awareness of those that are bending the rules no matter how innocent it might be.

Right on brother. I just spent an entire afternoon arguing those exact words with countless people. Some get it, some don't! Either way, everyone loves to fish!! I just kinda get my back cornered to the wall when I see the place I'm supposed to protect being broadcasted.

I never mess with Military or law enforcement property so if I every fish AB, you won't see me in your area. Thanks for your service. There is a lot of illegal fishing activity that goes on in the Port of LA/LB. Since 9-11 many areas were closed. It is good you joined FNN and helped educate people on fishing rules in the Navy bay. They should make it illegal for you military guys to fish it also. If a person sees people fishing they must figure it is ok to fish Anahiem bay. Uninformed fishermen don't know if rules are enforced when they see military fishing there. You could see how people would be confused not knowing it is ok for military to fish there. If the Navy closed it to you guys less guys would be confused when they see people fishing in a No fishing area. Welcome to FNN.

Monkey see monkey do DR? This has some validity when it comes to us fisherman. All it takes is for one Lemming to walk off the cliff and all the other Lemmings will follow. Think by far the majority know this area is off limits, it really has the necessary signage, but many have the logic if someone else is getting away with it why can't I?

If it keeps getting abused more stringent restrictions might come into play, sometimes we are our own worse enemy.

Its legal for civilians with cac cards, so it isn't descrimatory towards all. They use to have it open, years ago... Until the harbor was gettin ran sacked and trashed. Like I said, weapons station for ENTIRE west Pac. They don't just let anyone into the pentagon brother. You don't get taught the masons handshake with being inducted first. Catch my drift?

Yep, Monkey see Monkey do. There is so many dumbasses out there. This spot is in plain public view. Some kid sees a couple guys fishing and not getting in trouble then figures they don't enforce it, it creates confusion. Then they come back and go fishing. Obama 2 time voters for example. :LOL:

Sweet pics. I have been reading your posts on Bloody Decks since you first started posting on there. Too bad they do not allow duck/goose hunting on the base. That place is a mecca for ducks and geese. Are you able to float tube in the bay? I am going out in the morning in Newport for spotties.
