I just shipped this net before Christmas to Arkansas. Salmo Trutto: Named after the Brown Trout that was its inspiration, this custom net was a collaborative design between me and my client Jett M. Jett came to me with the idea of making the net look like a brown trout. We hashed through some concepts over the phone, and Salmo Trutto was a go after just one sketch! The net’s handle is made of Black Walnut-reinforced Bird’s Eye Maple. The Hoop is Black Walnut, Genuine Mahogany & Curly Maple. The inlaid spots were created using various natural materials like Brass, Black Stone, Kingman Turquoise, and Fire Coral. Each spot on the handle was meticulously carved out and inlaid in these materials to ultimately create a fish-like look. The hoop is about 10.25”x19” and the Overall Length is 32”. A hand flared copper tube finishes off the lanyard hole before a hand-tied paracord lanyard was tied on. Even the Black Walnut & Bird’s Eye Maple Magnetic Net Release has Brass and stone inlays to match the handle.

The first prototype inlay with aluminum halos instead of brass. I figured brass was closer to the color of a brown trout.
