I was looking at the protected areas along the coast and found myself confused by the terms that were being used such as State Marine Reserve (SMR), State Marine Conservation Area (SMCA) and so forth, as reading the definitions since they would just say that they may allow for some recreational fishing.
So after looking around on the DFG site, I finally found what I was needing. If you go to the link below and about half way down the page you will see the individual regulations and map for each area. Clicking on the arrow next to the area you are interested in will then tell you exactly what can be fished for and how it is to be fished.
It also will clearly tell you if there is no fishing at all.
