Fished four a couple hours with the gf, caught one little guy on a piece of cut up fish. Tried the Sabiki (store bought) for some bait, absolutely no love.

Interesting note... I threw out my shad colored chatter bait and I seen a decent sized fish follow it until a bird ruined it and swooped down. I had a BIRD AND FISH following the lure on the first cast... I quickly yanked the lure out of the water before the bird could get to it. I definitely gotta try it some more. I called it quits shortly after that the gf wanted to go.

haha, im right there with ya. my girls getting better though. hahaha, good stuff.

oh yeah, go about 3/4 of the way down the pier, get some gulp saltwater stuff like the sandworms or something, and throw it as far as you can back towards ucsb. let it sink and just wait. theres this pipline out there with a bunch of kelp on it and i have caught a bunch of sculpin out of there.

Have her lose the purse while your at it.

Looks like a Sculpin to me, or maybe a Midshipmen (Toadfish).

Thanks Spartanfish. I'll try that this friday. Do I strap on a 1oz sinker or something? Certainly cant fly line with the wind blowing the way it does =p If they don't have sandworms, would any other Gulp products work? Can someone tell me how to use these? They're quite expensive. =(

um, id go with sand worms, cut in half or cut in thirds, carolina rigged with half ounce sinker. thats what ive used in the past with fairly good results. and yeah, that wind is ridiculous
