New Years Day With Captain Trolly - Catfish & Trout report

So after some kick but sessions at the Vine the entire month of December. Me & Capt. Trolly said lets bring in the new year at Irvine lake. Left the Trout gear at home again and brought out the heavy artillery to see if any Big Blues wanted to cooperate with our game plan. :Envious:

Water temp was 52 degrees very light wind water slight off gin color today.

Fished the usual baits and had some success in deeper water today. (25-35 feet)

Did not get any commitments from The Big Blues this week.

Trolly started the new year with a BANG and had 3 nice channel Cats in the first hour. He was on fire!
I ended the later part of the day with a nice little bang. Even caught 1 cat around 6lbs that had this blue tag.
Another first for me fishing aboard with Capt Trolly . My first ever tagged fish :Big Smile:

After releasing a few really nice kittys and giving away a few I managed to get a pic of 2 that we brought home to fry up.
Look at the belly! Not Trolly... I mean the Cat belly... LOL

We ran across Diego floating around. Man this guys covers water on that tube... So nice to see a tuber actually working a large area on a tube rather then being a ramp biotch. Congrats Diego on the Sweet Steelie. 14.35lbs .:Dancing Banana: Great seeing you out there buddy

This Catfish stuff is new to me or at least the catching part is :LOL: Fishing with Trolly is like being in school but having a blast. There are new lessons learned on every outing including life lessons from the legend. Trolly I thank you for everything you have showed me.
I think im getting addicted to the bite! :Shocked:

Pontoon you gotta get back in your seat buddy. I can't wait to get out there and buddy boat with Teamtrolltoon.
These big cats might be in for a lesson as well.

Thanks for the report, Rob. Glad you guys gottem. I have been basically ignoring the kitties since early October. I know I need to revisit that fishery
because this last summer really pegged the needle for me and my family fishing for the big blues. Lots of fun. Never thought I would enjoy catfishing
until I had some of those nights. And days too.

That tag looks like one that we were using back in July and August during a promotion. You might get an "attaboy" for it now but that would be about it. LOL

And yes, it's great to see Diego with that brute. We have been stocking lots of DD trout since November and it's good to see them on the chew.
But the big fish are simply not for everybody. It takes talent. Wish I had some !!

Any day on the Vine is a good day, but a day of fishing with one of the Masters of Team Trolltoon is excellent. Don't get to used to the kitties, we still got trout to slay and a Masters spot to claim.:Wink:
