Happy New Year!!! 14.35 lbs my PB Steelhead

Went out to Irvine Lake for my annual start the year off right session and damn I am glad I did. I got a 14.35 lbs Steelhead on a 1/16 Trout King green ball head with a small jerk bait we've been testing on 3# Maxima. It was a great day, the fish had 3 different lines that broke off before I got her and the belly was full of small shad and some power bait. It took a very good run and it was a lot of fun.

Absolutely AWESOME, Chief!!! I watched your video cover to cover. What a fight and man, what a great fish !! Good for you. You obviously did everything right.

What time of day was that? I was shooting the stocking video at 11:00. Sure would like to have gotten your fish in there. But I'm sure there will be photos.

Curious which model Loomis trout rod you are using. (801-2?) And does it really bend all the way down to the handle or is that just the video camera distortion?

Congrats on that steelhead. For many, that would be a once in a lifetime catch!! I sure have not landed anything that large! Love that sound of the drag.... BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
