Hit up north of the pier this morning for a short time; I ran into another fisherman out there, but no other anglers and very few beach goers around. The water was calm and clean with lots of good lulls. I was there during the outgoing and suspect most of the critters were full from the incoming tide feasting.
I got a few tentative hits on this 1/4 iz jig:

After a while of no action, I tied a two foot leader to the hook bend with a MORF Bugrub and started getting more hits. Landed a micro perch and decided it was time to start casting my way back to the car. What was going to be the last--or last last--cast, I did battle with this little bruiser:

A couple casts later this guy:

Good times; will be definitely be great times when I find some 15+ inch versions.

Happy new year and thanks for lookin'.
