Hey guys hows it going Blakeb reporting in for the last months fishing status for Santa ana river lakes. This month has got me off to a great start I have had a blast and got tons of fish over the last couple weeks.
Here is the layout of December for me:
SARL December 5 2013
Arrived at lake around 3am decided to drive out a little early in hope of getting the spot I intended that was going to produce some big fish. We were let in around 5:55am and I drove straight to my spot and luckily was the first one there :Big Grin:. By 6:30 the shore around me was packed lol and the fishing was good people were hitting fish but the bite wasn't at its prime yet. I think it was around 8:30 I landed my first for the season which happened to be a lightning trout SWEEETTTT!!! Through out the day I caught my limit and went on and met with some friends and hung out for the rest of time.

I arrived at the lake at 2am and met with my friend Steven there. My hopes were to get the same spot I did last time and I knew it was going to happen do to there only being 3 people infront of me :Big Grin:. So we were let in around 6am and we instantly drove to the spot and set up. By 6:15 Steven had his first and I was barley getting a rod in the water moving super slow lol. We both started getting good bites but they just weren't sticking. At around 8 the bite really picked up with some sun on the water so I decided to bring out the dropshot which was my best idea yet ha. We both hit at least 7 fish by 9:30. Then I decided to go for a walk and try one of my favorites for the lake and it paid off WITH A HUGE 14.9 TOOOAAADDDDDD:EyePop:

I couldn't believe it I was in shock. Last season I had come up short multiple times by just ounces for my DD and lost 3 that I know of. This was a present I guess from the fishing GODS. After this fish I slowed down did my victory dances and hung out for the rest of day. It was a great day and nothing to complain about then.

I made my usual early arrival and fished solo that day. The bite seemed just to be slow throughout the whole day I missed and lost several fish to short bites and not the best hook sets (MY FAULT). But by 12 I limited out and actually had the chance to get some lightnings which was really fun definitely wasn't expecting that.

Well I arrived at 1:45am to a huge line I was shocked. The lake was definitely packed the line went out to the street by opening and I didn't get the spot I wanted but it was ok. It was tubing time, I had got a GOPRO for Christmas so I had planned on tacking it out seeing how it works. I loved it was cool being able to record me fishing. The morning was ruff though I spent atleast the first hour prepping my tube making sure it was ready. Then when I launched my phone happened to be the first thing in the water...... So then I had to let it dry out. But fishing was great I had a blast here is my video
