Some Lakes claim they stock BIG FISH, but VERY RARELY they are caught... We claim to stock HUGE TROPHY TROUT and MANY are caught EVERY WEEK. During our latest stocking, OUR BIG NEWS stated we would stock Super Trout over 10 pounds and up to 20 pounds, maybe even larger.
WELL HERE’S THE PROOF !!

Great photos. You photographer and camera are to be commended.

However, evertime I see a big fish with tail that is severely trimmed, I just loose interest a bit. Just feels like an unfair battle with the fish. Any reason why most of the tails are trimmed? Can't you ask for the stocking companies to just leave the fins alone?

Curious.

Its not the stocking company trimming anything. These fish live in concrete tanks I think and between the concrete and the other thousands of fish in each tank as well as birds they get wore off. Just think how long that 15lb fish has to sit in a tank to get that big.

I have another opinion on why the tails seem to be "cut". The growth rate of the fins does not keep up with the growth rate of the body. Remember these are altered fish that are altered with the intent of putting on pounds as quick as possible, that and the lack of swimming area it could be like atrophy or growth rate.
