View Full Version : wide open yfc bite + pb and video!!

It had been a while since I had done some surf fishing I had been going to castaic but I sure had missed it. So yesterday afternoon I decided to head out to my local beach. I arrived there around 4 and the conditions were perfect. On the fourth cast I caught a 10in perch and continued working that area for around 15 min and I got another hit it put up a good fight it had been a while since I had caught a yfc and after that the bite was wide open. They were all a very good size and they also put up a good fight my pb was 19in. After the bite died down I took a small intermission and then hit another spot I had been to previously and since it was already dark I wanted to see how the bite was around that time. I arrived and after about 20 min I landed a 20in hali. Since I had never surf fished at night I was amazed by how active they are at that time I felt so many fish hit me as they swam by. When I caught the first one I thought it was a calico they were hungry because they were showing that lc no mercy

Nice going Efren. When those YFC get big, they put up a really nice fight. Sounds like a really fun session.

A wide open bite on any kind of fish is always fun. Those conditions looked perfect for winter time surf fishing.
