I arrived Friday afternoon to find an empty cabin (Hotel California). The weather was nice, cold, and breezy. Within a couple minutes the other guys came back from the East Walker. Fishing was good they said. Flies and lures did the trick for a couple of 15-18 inch browns. That evening we dicided to fish the inlet at the upper lake. Mistake, the wind was howling. Some of the guys decided use their float tubes while I waded out on the sand bar, man was I scared for them. I thought we might have a human bobber with the wind blowing as hard as it was. I didn't even attempt to use my fly rod and my bubble/fly combo was casting out maybe 20 yards. After about maybe a 1/2 hour the guys were blown back to shore so we headed to a shelterd cove to finish out the night, SKUNK.

Saturday some of us headed out to the West Walker by the Marine base. One of the guys fished it the day before and said it was way too low and it was. We found fish but they were out in the open and extremly hard to catch, SKUNK. The guy who warned us went back to the East Walker and caught some nice fish. He also said it looked like a salmon fishery with all the people lined up fishing that place.

In the afternoon we dicided to head back to the inlet. This time we had better luck

I met this guy and his kid who said they came up here because they read my previous post about my trip up here with my family. Sorry I a forgot your names.

We fished the evening over there and had the same success, all C&R.

That evening one of the guys decided to cook fish tacos for dinner, deepfrying cod in the cabin. The food was so good even our neighbors were trying to break in to get some.

One of the guys sleeping in this bedroom heard this scatching noise and decided to look out the window. Staring right back at him was a bear.

This window is about 6-7 feet high and this bear was looking through the window

No more cooking fish in the cabin!!!

Sunday morning fished the roadside of uppertwin and caught a bunch of fish on all types of lures, all C&R.
By the way we call this place Hotel California because some of us who have never been here before thought our friends cabin, well was a cabin. Rustic, open etc. Hell no, this place is a 5 star hotel and I thank him for always inviting me and his other fishing buddies up there for some mental health days

I love that area! Totally cool that you were able to stay in a cabin. I always end up sleeping on the ground. The thought of sleeping on the ground when the bears have been more active... one more reason besides fishing in the morning to keep me from sleeping at night.
