Once again BIG fish stole the show this tournament day at Irvine Lake. The weather could not be any more beautiful following the little bit of rain that fell on Friday. In fact all the roads where open to around the lake and fishing was rated very good as anglers reported catching their fish on a ton of different methods.

Once again anglers trolling around seemed to have the upper hand as these fish have really keyed in on the Shad and Silversides that are abundant in the lake. Anglers trolling the VERY VERY popular Frenzy Flickershads are doing very well with the Hot Pink, Chrome Clown, Firetiger and the Racy Shad Color in the size 4. Anglers that wish to get a little bit deeper are using the size 5 Flickershad with good results. Some trollers are also trolling the SC Shiners and finding the fish with those as well. Some anglers in the know are trolling a Excel Spoon or Needlefish on a "Poor Mans Downrigger" which consists of a 1/2 egg sinker or keel sinker to a siz (6) ft leader of 4lb test with a Needlefish in Cop Car or Bikini color tipped with a nightcrawler.

Mini Jig and plastics fisherman also continue to get on the big fish. Fishing brighter colors after the storms and adding scents such as Bite On Garlic defintley upped the odds of the fish finding the offering. The plastics fisherman have been doing very well at the West Shore and the Santiago Flats. Basically find the bait balls and follow them around all day or find the school of Trout and follow them. Fishing these baits from a Float Tube or Kayak as been RED HOT as well.

Bait guys continue to do well on the Rainbow Garlic, Chrt Garlic and Salmon Egg Red Powerbaits. Some anglers are supercharging their offerings by adding Berkley Power Dust or Bite On Fury and then adding another scent on top of it Such as the Bite On Garlics or Berkley Trout Scent. Nightcrawler anglers have been doing very well during the stroms fishing them on a shorter leader and adding some scent. The water has not been too clouded up because of the recent rains so the normal or longer leaders have been the norm as of late.

On to the Results and Pictures:

GREAT day of fishing(catching), one of the better bites I can recall on a Tourney day when fishing is usually a little tougher....just couldn't get the bigger one to bite. NEXT TIME!

So ADAM CERVANTES won the Vet's Tourny and placed top 5 at Troutsgiving and the Turkey Shoot Out? :EyePop:
(someone needs to buy a lotto ticket....or something) :Secret:
