Planning a trip to hit Castaic for the first time next week on Turkey Day. Forecast says might rain (doesn't bother me) but was wondering if the lake closes if it rains? I heard if there is too much wind (White caps) that they'll close the lake due to safety reason, how about rainy (if heavy)

Thanks.

P.S. Just planning to shore fish

No, they don't close the lake due to rain. I've been on the water in some down pours. They do not allow boats to launch in heavy north winds but I'm not sure about shore fishing though.

As long as it's not too windy they do not close the lake during the rain. However, due to the 100% dry boat inspection, it's near to impossible to pass the inspection and get in during rainy weather unless you already have a re-entry band on your trailer. But since you're shore fishing this is a moot point. Just a heads up to all the boaters out there.
