rebellious little kids within today. Had some pm,s about others wanting

me to show them some Piggy Perch spots in Malibu before, a few summers

ago, but I never did that. Yet recently found a questionable spot in LBC

where you can have a fairly easy multi- species catching session. After

about three multi- species reports from that spot a forum member pm,s

Thing is, DFG says you can fish anywhere on the tideline, but LBC says,

they just tell you to leave, so it is not to bad. First time I meet with the

other fisherman, first cast he catches a fat Legal . Second time he wants

to meet up, I pm him and give him a long Mr. Consciousness story about

Today we go to meet up, I get there about 5.45am and I am waiting for

him, (did not remember what his car looked liked) waited to 6am. and

getting into grey light. On the road to the spot this time there is a bunch

of some kind of blocked off construction work going on, so have to walk

way around to another road, and cut across a couple of parking lots now,

Can anyone tell me what the name of this bird is, of all the years I have been fishing I never saw this before. This bird dives and swims the
length of the trenches useing its wings like flippers, or in unison canoe
paddles !!! it was like watching him fly underwater !!! Amazing .

You got it half right its a diving duck or a dipsy duck. Sort of like a coot.

A murrelet. Perhaps an Ancient Murrelet?

Based upon your picture and the description I found I might venture a guess and say it's a Cassin's Auklet.
