I got to the gate around 6 am and was probably 20 cars back in line. Got in about 6:30, headed over to the right of the launch ramp. There was already a guy there throwing a punker, and I could see trout swirling around in the shallows by the ramp. Lobbed out a cast to get the line on my reel wet, slow wound it in, and 20 feet out, WHAM! Peeled a little drag in a 10 second fight before I dragged him on shore. I thought he would go 7-8 pounds, but went FOUR on my spring scale at home? Guess I'm WAY off on my estimates, or I need a new scale! Will try to upload pics; they're in my phone. Stayed until 8, that one bite and one fish on the first cast was it. Hudd 68 in ROF5 did the trick!
Did not see any other fish caught, but the vast majority of the guys were on the dam. Koifish sent me a pic of a cooler full of fish, so he probably got another limit on the dam...

Jowo!

All my fish are ten to twenty lbers when I first catch them.

Then reality sets back in and I realize they are just 4's.

Lol... its fun though

Nice swim bait fish

A four pound striper in an hour and a half of fishing from shore makes a fine morning...

ok, just measured it, and it's right about 28". No way that's 4 pounds, right? I'm thinking I read the scale wrong, and it's the bottom marker instead of the top marker and so is 6#? Though it does have a massive head and skinny body. got the pic sent to my email, but can't post until I get home from work.

Regardless, it was my first Hudd striper, and was super fun to catch, for the whole ten seconds before I landed him! LOL
There are still trout all over the place. A guy came over next to me fishing powerbait and got his limit in like 10 min.

On a side note, in deference to master Koifish, I texted him a pic of my fish at 8, and he texted me a pic back at 8:40. I could see 9 in the cooler. LOL

very good job with the swimbait. since they bite good on sardine I don't bother use swimbait. The fish are skinny and long this year...we caught several 27 inches plus long but they are very thin....must be not much food for them to eat in the lake.

here is a picture of your catch

Thanks for the info, TO, and for posting the pic, koifish!
Nothing at all for the punker guy. He said no blowups or anything. Not sure how the guys on the dam were doing. One guy was throwing a pretty big swimbait; I thought he'd caught something, until he casted it back out. LOL Was not a live trout, I could see the joints when he casted.
