Well Crowley closes this Friday.

I was fortunate to get to fish it on Saturday and Sunday.

25 + fish each day mostly browns 14 inches with some close to 20 inches. Also got a few football bows.

In the Tube pulling streamers looking for big moe.... Got busted a couple of times, oh well next year.. I am looking forward to seeing all these really healthy browns get one more winter under their belts. Next year these things will be beasts for sure.

Till next year signing off from Crowley.

What are your thots on what to do to avoid getting the line busted?

Any shore fisherman or boats around?

Great job. I was up in the sierras Sat and Sun, and from what I saw an experienced it was the worst bite I have ever seen up there.

Plenty of shore fisherman they were all fly fishing with a midge.

no boats. (marinas been closed since 10/31)

I am of the mind set of lighter leader more strikes. I guess I could go heavier with less strikes to avoid possible break offs. But I like the action, and take my chances.

I'm with you ... set the drag as loose as you can stand, take your heart meds, and hang on? Even then ... there's the teeth factor, right?

How heavy a test will you go?

I use 4lb flouro its been my go to. The problem I have seen especially with the bigger fish is that when they suck down my fly (which is 3 inches) there is nothing I can do about those teeth... I don't even know if 6lb would stand it if it rub the wrong way.

If I can hookem in the lip (which is 95% of the time, then I am all good) but the bigger fish have them big mouths..

Oh well that's why its called fishing!

These two bad boys were brought to the net at Crowley with 4 lb flouro and a size 18 chronomid nymph. An aerial acrobatic show and into the backing a number of times. The larger one 28+inches and around 8 1/2 lbs.
